Congratulations to the Danspace Ballet School Junior B, Classical category (8- to 9-year-olds) and Senior D (Open Trio Division) teams for winning Honorable Mention and Second Place, respectively, in the recently concluded Philippine Dance Cup Competition held at the Meralco Theater, Ortigas Ave, Pasig City, last October 20 and 21. The eight-member Junior B group performed a lively dance entitled Les Filles en Bleu while the Senior D Trio girls performed a physically challenging contemporary piece called Requiem pour un Reve. Choreography was by Melvin Martinez, a former ballet dancer with Ballet Philippines and The Philippine Ballet Theatre.

The teams, under the tutelage of Maritoni Rufino Tordesillas, director of Danspace, competed for the first time among top ballet schools from around the Philippines. Now in its 13th year, the school holds regular ballet classes year-round at the Manila Polo Club and trains students ages 4 years old and above.
